Why we sell these objects
Authentiques Boutique is a curiosity boutique. The pieces we carry are sold as objects of beauty, character, and gift-worthiness — things that are interesting to live with, give, or look at. They are not sold as authenticated antiques, museum-grade artifacts, or investment-grade collectibles, and we do not represent ourselves as historians, archaeologists, or appraisers.
How descriptions are written
Each item description is built from sourcing notes, dealer information, hands-on examination of the piece, and AI-assisted analysis of photographs using several different vision models. The AI step helps surface materials, motifs, regional cues, and possible time periods that a single human eye might miss — but it can also be confidently wrong. We review and edit before publishing, and we take responsibility for what is shown, but mistakes happen.
What our titles, eras, and origins mean
Names, regions, cultures, eras, and approximate ages reflect our best understanding at the time of listing. They are descriptive rather than certified. Where our research is uncertain, we try to use language like "in the style of," "attributed to," "circa," or "likely from" — but even firmly-stated details should be read as best-effort, not as guaranteed provenance.
What we do not claim
We do not claim that any specific piece is genuinely ancient, ritually used, signed by a particular maker, or worth a specific dollar amount on a third-party market. We do not authenticate. We do not appraise. We do not certify cultural patrimony. If any of those things matter to you, please treat the listing as a starting point and seek an independent specialist before purchase.
If you are buying for investment or research
These objects are priced and described as decor and gifts. If you are considering a purchase for resale, scholarly research, museum acquisition, or insured-collection purposes, please tell us in advance and bring (or budget for) an independent expert. We are happy to share what we know — including the limits of what we know.
Reporting an inaccuracy
If you have specialist knowledge about any object on this site and believe a description, era, origin, or attribution is wrong, please get in touch. Corrections from people who know more than we do are welcome and appreciated — that is part of how the catalog improves over time.
No online sales
This site is a display catalog. Sales happen in person at our location in Verdi, Nevada. The disclaimer above applies to the descriptions presented online; in-store, we are happy to walk through what we know and do not know about any specific piece before any transaction.
